Many people do not know about or cannot locate the church documents they would benefit from reading, and the kind of material which will help them work on important aspects of public speech.
This workbook contains extracts from the relevant official documents, practical exercises for readers, and samples of resources such as scripture commentaries, useful in preparation and which readers can decide to go on to explore. In this way, the Workbook is an anthology suggesting further reading and study. The material has been developed through use in workshops with readers and is recommended for individual and group work in parishes.
Good proclamation of the Word is essential if liturgy is going to be thought-provoking and meaningful. Throughout this book, as in its companion Handbook for Readers, there is an emphasis on the presence of Christ in scripture, which means that the Reader is handling 'holy things' just as much as the Minister of the Eucharist.
