One 30cm live willow cutting of Salix aurita x viminalis (also known as Salix x fruticosa) ready to plant.

This is a cross variety of Salix aurita and Salix viminalis which was fairly widely planted by basketmakers in the past and is widely scattered in England, Scotland and Ireland.  It is resistant to pests and so the rods usually grow unbranched.  It is not as vigourous as straight salix viminalis but grows to a height (6-7feet) and thickness that is more useful for producing sticks used in basketmaking.
