A fast growing variety - we get 10-11' rods from our osier beds every year - great for structures and sculpture work where having long straight rods are of great benefit. This variety can also be grown as a fast growing screen or windbreak.
Osiers are widely distributed in the British Isles, usually alongside rivers and in areas where basket cultivation has a long history. They were used in rough agricultural baskets and fish traps. A current theory is that osier was introduced into this country along with early human settlement as it was so widely used in agriculture.
